Vegetarians and the bible diet: honey
Vegetarians may have suspected they were marching in time with the saints and now, with the wide-spread popularity of the Bible Diet, we know we are.
The Bible Diet is composed of foods specifically mentioned in the Bible. Those foods, grapes, pomegranates, olives and olive oil, honey, barley and wheat (whole-wheat, not refined wheat products) have been proven to be overflowing with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
JUST A TEASPOON OF HONEY A DAY KEEPS THE DOCTOR AWAY
Vegans must eschew honey, but for those who do not, you should know that raw honey has a most notable record of amazing properties; not only as a natural sweetener but as an antiseptic and antibacterial topical application for wounds. Successfully using honey on injuries has been noted in folk medicine for more than 2000 years. The reason honey works this way has now been chemically proven and explained by scientists. Honey has a high acidic pH which prohibits bacterial growth along with other chemical reactions that you can easily research if you choose to do so.
Many of us have treated colds with a mixture of honey and lemon juice, or the honey and lemon stirred into a cup of hot tea to sooth scratchy throats and stuffy noses. This concoction may not be a cure, but certainly it’s a palliative.
Warning: Never, ever feed honey or products containing honey to infants less than 12 months of age. The undeveloped digestive systems of infants cannot destroy the spores and toxins that may be present in honey. This can cause infant botulism that is a life-threatening disease. Children over 12 months of age and adults are not susceptible to the spores or toxins that may be present in honey.
