Catechins for Health!

No, not catkin, but you're close.  It's actually catechin and pronounced
kāt'ĭ-kĭn', a flavonoid par excellance.  Vegetarians the world over eat
foods containing this flavonoid and don't even know it.

However, by consciously increasing foods containing catechins, arteries remain
flexible and, since catechins interfere with several steps in the formation of
plaque and clots, you are 40% less likely to experience a stroke!
A wonderful source of catechins available to all vegetarians is apples.  Two
apples a day is what it takes to get that 40% reduction in ischemic stroke.
So how about a piece of apple pie for one serving and a fresh apple for the
other?

Or, you can drink some green tea for your second helping of catechins.  The
Japanese study found that people drinking five or more cups of green tea a day
had a 42 percent lower risk of all strokes and a 62 percent lower ischemic
stroke risk!  These are statistics worth something when it comes to your
health, vegetarian or not.
Don't like tea? Well, you can get green tea extract capsules at your favorite
vitamin store -- or you can do yourself a favor and use www.ebates.com and
order online AT A DISCOUNT from either vitaminshoppe.com or vitacost.com!

Grab a good book, sip some green tea -- or pop a pill -- and munch an apple
and get healthy!
