Vegetarians may have suspected they were marching in time with the saints and now, with the wide-spread popularity of the Bible Diet, we know we are in the company of angels.
The Bible Diet is composed of foods specifically mentioned in the Bible. Those foods, grapes, pomegranates, olives and olive oil, honey, barley and wheat, whole-wheat, not refined wheat products, have been proven to be overflowing with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
The grape is an amazing fruit. Not only are grapes tasty and delicious, they contain those magical compounds called flavonoids. The flavonoids contained in grapes seem to help your body fight off damage done to it by "free radicals" that are caused by LDL, the "bad" cholesterol. Other benefits include protection from blood clots and especially for women, defense against coronary heart disease.
When the grape is dried, we get raisins. While the raisin loses some of the disease fighting compounds of the grape in the drying process, the health benefits still rank very high on the beneficial scale.
You may think of raisins as being very sweet and gooey, so it may surprise you to know that raisins do not cause tooth decay. Raisins contain a substance that is highly effective in destroying cavity-causing bacteria and the bacteria that attacks your gums. Raisins in cereal or a fruit salad or just a handful to snack on, can ease the desire for an unhealthy dessert and be so much better for you in so many ways.
Grapes make the wine. No other fruit can equal the power of grapes for wine making. This little fruit has all the natural components required for this process. The most health benefits come from the red wines, although there are some antioxidants in the white. Even purple grape juice can help prevent blood clots.
There are many people who do not drink wine or liquor of any kind and should not begin just because wine has certain good health benefits. If wine is to be included in your diet, one four ounce glass per day for women and two for men is the recommended amount.
The moderate consumption of wine has been proven to be beneficial in reducing coronary heart disease and may help in treating Alzheimer and Parkinson diseases. So raise your four ounce glass to a long and healthy life. Salute!
