Strawberry Daiquiri recipe
There must be hundreds of places to go for a strawberry Daiquiri recipe and this is just one of them. But here you will get a bit of history as well, so give a look at that which follows!
Basically, the Daiquiri is a rum-based drink. The plain old Daiquiri recipe uses sugar, lime juice and rum. Run the mixture over ice, then strain into your glass. From there, the basic strawberry Daiquiri recipe adds strawberries and either triple sec or something like strawberry schnapps. Whether you shake it or blend it or serve it with an additional whole strawberry in the glass, that's up to you.
Searching through one of the old tyme bartender's guides proves interesting. Whether it is a banana Daiquiri or a strawberry Daiquiri recipe, the ingredients are all the same, except what your fruit is. Makes life easy, no?
The only real difference is whether you want a frozen Daiquiri or a plain Daiquiri. The strawberry Daiquiri recipe for a frozen Daiquiri blends the ice into a slurry, like a frozen margarita. The plain Daiquiri shakes the alcohol and ice together and then strains the ice out.
Here are a couple strawberry Daiquiri recipes for you to choose from:
Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri
2 oz light rum
1 oz lime juice (or sweet and sour mix)
1/2 oz triple sec
1/2 tsp powdered sugar
1 cup ice
5 fresh strawberries
Put all in a blender. High speed until smooth. Pour into a Collins glass; serve with a straw.
Strawberry Daiquiri

One version of the history of the Strawberry Daiquiri involves an ice cream social, a keg of rum and the Civil War. The basic plot has fresh strawberries being used to smooth the taste of rum. The strawberry Daiquiri recipe was written down by a Confederate spy, James Welty, code named 'Daiquiri', who then joined those on whom he was supposed to spy in the consumption of the rest of the keg of rum and by morning forgot all the 'intelligence' he was sent to gather! A final word of caution: If you squeeze your limes to get lime juice, you will get a different taste depending on whether some of the oil from the lime peel goes into the drink or not! Also, if you use bottled lime juice, the taste will be altered, too! Experiment to see which you prefer. You may come up with a strawberry Daiquiri recipe favorite of your own.
